The fishing has been good all over the Puget Sound these past couple of weeks… and so has the catching! The Skagit, Stillaguamish and Snohomish Rivers are all performing well; mostly with Humpys but there have also been quite a few reports of Silver Salmon being caught in the Stilly. Sand Shrimp with spin n glows or squid-jigs are working the best in the Skagit. In the Stilly: Dick Nites and Buzz Bombs are the best choice. Meanwhile, the Snohomish seems to favor Buzz Bombs, squid-jigs or the new favorite: the Buzz Bomb/squid combo!
On the saltwater side of things, areas 8-2 and 9 are on fire right now for Coho. Every day, numerous anglers are catching their limit of these prized fish by trolling about 65-90 feet deep in several hundred feet of water. The best spots seem to be the Possession Bar or Shipwreck or the channel in between them. For gear: the most popular lures right now are just about anything green behind a Purple Haze or Green/Glow flasher. At the same time, there are still fish being caught on UV Chrome, Purple Haze or White Lightning spoons, but Irish Cream and Red Racer are the two hottest colors of Coho Killer, Kingfisher or Tailwagger spoons. When trolling for Silvers, make sure you go pretty fast: around 3mph.
